Theirself: A Bold Script Font That Elevates Brand Identity

Starting with a Blank Canvas

I was sitting in front of my screen, a fresh brand board open in Adobe Illustrator, about to begin a new visual identity project for a local boutique skincare brand. The client wanted something modern, feminine, and confident—something that stood out without shouting. I knew typography would be key. That’s when I remembered Theirself, the script font I’d recently added to my collection.

Theirself is a modern, stylish, and daring script font that carries a strong personality. It’s not your average flowing script—it has an edge, a sense of motion, and a confident rhythm. I opened a new text box and typed the brand name in Theirself. Right away, I noticed how each letter felt intentional, almost like a signature. It was bold without being overwhelming, and it immediately gave the design a sense of direction.

Logo Design with Purpose

I started with the logo. Theirself worked beautifully as a primary logotype. I used the uppercase letters for a strong, centered mark and played with the swashes to create a visual hook. Since Theirself is PUA encoded, I had easy access to all the alternate characters and ligatures, which let me customize the look without needing special software.

Theirself reads as strong, confident, and dynamic—perfect for a brand that wanted to feel empowering and clean. I paired it with a soft sans serif for the secondary tagline, which balanced the design and kept it from feeling too dramatic. The contrast between the two typefaces created a visual hierarchy that guided the eye naturally from the brand name to the supporting text.

Brand Identity in Motion

Once the logo was set, I moved into the broader brand system. Theirself became the headline font across all materials. I used it on packaging mockups for product labels, where its clean lines and modern flair stood out beautifully on minimalist matte labels. It also worked well in social media graphics, especially Instagram posts and stories where bold text over clean backgrounds needed to pop.

I tested Theirself on different mediums: business cards, shopping bags, and even a small run of thank-you notes. Each time, the font maintained its personality while adapting to the format. It looked especially sharp on business cards—clean, professional, and memorable. I made sure to keep the font size large enough for legibility, especially on smaller items like stickers and tags.

Font Pairing Made Easy

One of the biggest concerns when using a bold script like Theirself is finding a complementary font that doesn’t compete. I found success pairing it with a light serif for editorial-style layouts and a modern sans serif for digital templates. The contrast between Theirself and a more neutral typeface gave the design depth without losing clarity.

For example, in a product catalog I designed, I used Theirself for product names and a clean serif for descriptions. The result was a layout that felt curated and intentional. The font’s dynamic energy helped elevate the content and made the brand feel more premium.

Testing Before Committing

Before finalizing the brand system, I always test a font in multiple contexts. I created a few different mockups: a shop sign, a product label, a homepage hero section, and a few social media templates. Theirself held up well across the board, especially in larger sizes where its swashes and flourishes could shine.

I did notice that Theirself works best as a display font or headline font. It’s not ideal for long paragraphs or body text due to its stylized nature. But that’s exactly what makes it perfect for logos, packaging, and attention-grabbing headlines. I made sure to limit its use to short-form text and visual accents throughout the brand materials.

Practical Considerations for Client Work

When working with clients, it’s important to consider technical aspects like font licensing, file formats, and multilingual support. Theirself is a commercial font, which means it can be used in client projects without legal concerns. It also includes a variety of file formats, making it compatible with most design software. I appreciated the multilingual support when designing for a brand that included French and Spanish translations in its packaging.

I always recommend checking the included styles and alternates before using a font in a full brand system. Theirself comes with ligatures, swashes, and alternate characters that can be used to create unique typographic moments. I used a few of these alternates in the brand’s social media templates to create a subtle but memorable visual rhythm.

Final Touches and Real-World Use

By the time the brand materials were printed and launched, I was confident that Theirself had been the right choice. The packaging looked elegant but bold, the digital assets felt cohesive, and the overall brand presence was strong and consistent. The client loved the modern edge the font brought to the design, and it helped them stand out in a competitive market.

Theirself is a script font that brings personality without sacrificing professionalism. Whether you’re designing a logo, creating packaging, or building a digital presence, Theirself can help your brand feel more dynamic and intentional. It’s a go-to for any designer looking to add a touch of modern elegance with a daring twist.
